Head-to-head battles

A battle is you against one other person on the same questions, on the same clock. It is the shortest, sharpest way to play on QuizzyApp: ten questions, fifteen seconds each, a result in under three minutes.

Starting a battle

Battles start from the Battle lobby. There are two ways in.

Either way, both players land in a short waiting screen, and a three-second countdown runs once the opponent is in.

How a round works

Both players see the same question at the same time and have the same window to answer it. Once you pick an option it is locked — there is no changing it — and the round ends when time is up or both players have answered. Between questions you can see how your opponent is doing: whether they got the last one right and how many they have correct so far, but never which option they chose. Then the next question loads for both of you.

A room's owner chooses the quiz, so a private battle can be on exactly the material you are both revising; auto-match picks for you.

Deciding the winner

Your score is the number of questions you answered correctly. Most correct wins; the same number is a draw. Speed matters in the sense that an unanswered question scores nothing, but a fast wrong answer is still a wrong answer — there is no bonus for being quick.

The result screen shows both scores side by side, the XP you earned, and offers a rematch.

XP for battles

Battles award XP differently from solo quizzes:

So a clean sweep of ten questions and a win is worth 150 XP, which is why battles are the fastest way to climb the leaderboard, and why leaving a battle forfeits it: your opponent takes the win and you get no XP at all for the match. Do not start one unless you can finish it.

Challenging a circle-mate

Inside a study circle, tap any member to open their profile sheet and choose Challenge. That creates a private room on one of the circle's quizzes, sends them a notification with the room code, and posts the challenge into the circle chat so everyone can see who called out whom. The battle itself runs exactly as above.

Two things to know

Try it in the app. Everything on this page is free to start with. Open QuizzyApp, or browse the published quizzes first. Something not covered here? The support page has the questions we get most.
